Hi! Thanks for dropping by.

My education and experience encompass both veterinary and human medicine. I worked as a veterinary assistant throughout middle school, high school, and college. I hold a BS in Microbiology from Eastern Kentucky University and an MS in Health Informatics from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Health Information Sciences, where I am now a PhD candidate. I am also a medical technologist (clinical laboratory scientist) credentialed by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and I worked in the MD Anderson Cancer Center's veterinary medicine section. I became interested in laboratory computers when I was working in the laboratory at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, where I became the laboratory information systems supervisor responsible for implementing St. Luke's first laboratory computer system. I have a total of 15 years of experience working with laboratory information systems, both as a supervisor or project manager in hospitals and as a technical analyst/project manager/technical writer for various vendors, including CHC, ADAC HealthCare Information Systems, TripleG Corporation, Cerner, and GE Medical Systems. I am also a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS). I'm currently looking for employment in academia, industry, or healthcare, and I am especially interested in the educational aspects of medical informatics, including data representation in education of veterinary students, and in the use of electronic medical records in veterinary practices. I also have a special interest in parasitology. I hope you enjoy your visit to my site, and if you have any questions (or want to offer me a job!) please contact me. |
